Oh Yeah...

A couple of weekends ago we went out to the property...

Have I told you that I love cows...This one wants to know whata you lookin' at?

Then all of a sudden there was a gaggle, or covey, or is it brood, or flock? Oh yeah...a herd of cows. (See I'm catching on to this country lingo thingy)...but luckily Doug was there to save the day because the one on the right decided our marking tape looked tasty. I bet neon strands running trough a big pile of cow poop would look pretty interesting disturbing.

I have a new plan. I am going to be pregnant for the rest of my life when we get out there so that I never have to preg test a cow or artificially inseminate, etc. I have serious issues with stickin' my hand up a cows rump...it goes against everything I stand for as a woman.

Fun With Photoshop

I love Photoshop actions...check out these two picks. The first is the original one I took and the other is with a couple of Photoshop actions I got from Pioneer Woman:

A Day In The Sun

"The man who has planted a garden feels that he has done something for the good of the world." -- Vita Sackville-West

I thought that since tomorrow is my 30th birthday and we are going to be getting our property VERY soon, that I would spend the day...working on an organic farm. Let me tell you...that quote up there does not do it justice. We spent the day harvesting spring salad mix from the field, washing it, and bagging it for a local CSA. To say that it felt good was an understatement. The feeling of helping feed people who for whatever reason can't garden or won't was incredible. I didn't think about work and all the drama going on there. I just got in it and starting working, and honestly...it was like meditating. I am now even more excited to get started on our property!

I Hope...

That I never have to see this in my front yard one day...

A couple of weeks ago we went to an event at the American G.I. Museum in Bryan/College Station, TX. They did a WWII reinactment. It was incredible...and the first one I had ever been to. Of course, it's not the same as the real thing, but it is still very sobbering.

When we go, we always stay at the La Salle Hotel in dowtown Bryan. It is a beautiful hotel.

I also hope that we will be closing on our property this week.

It's Almost the Weekend!!

Yee-haw!! We will be going out to the property this Saturday and will be attending the Poteet Strawberry Festival on Sunday. So I am not even going to pretend that I will do any significant posts this weekend. Doug has told me that I will actually have to work on the property, even after I fell on the floor kicking and screaming calmy expressed my objections. We'll see how it works out, but don't worry, I won't bother to post anything about it, because that's how I am.

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

While I may have lied about the fact that I was going to post some updates this weekend...I do have some good news. We will be going to closing on the property in about two weeks. Holy crap....excuse me while I go vomit.

I am so excited, but I am also a little scared, naturally. However, do not mistake "scared" for "hesitant". That I am NOT. It feels so good to see that we are all in this. We all want this, and that is the most reassuring part of all. This is something that we all want to do. I do not think that any of us are hesitant and that's the best part. It tells me that we are all committed to doing this. I know that we will probably make some mistakes, but that is okay. We have a wonderful support system in our family and friends.

We will be fine.
